Yonex BG 65- Everything you need to know

Yonex BG 65 , having 0.7mm diameter, is the most common string among Pakistan's national badminton players in my opinion. One of the reasons this string is being used by most of the players is its affordability and that it is suitable for Intermediate-Advanced players. BG 65 will help you produce more accurate shots, however its thickness may hinder your shot power. Having a 0.7mm diameter makes it more durable than other strings, saving your money on restringing. Moreover, women in the mixed doubles (e.g English women mixed doubles player: Imogen Bankier ) and the front court doubles players can harvest more benefits from Yonex BG 65 as it  is perfect for precision play , helping you make those technical and controlled shots at the front court. Before choosing Yonex BG 65 you must keep the above factors in mind and analyse if it is best for you. Written by : Muhammad Anas Akhtar (Admin FBCOP) https://www.facebook.com/badmintoninpakistan

Legacy of Amer Islam

Muhammad Amer Islam , son of the veteran champion Muhammad Islam, was born on 2nd March 1967 in Faislabad. Initially, Amer Islam’s interests were Swimming and Gymnastics, but he never knew he would end up becoming a professional Badminton player and would be remembered as the Legend of Pakistan .  He, unlike many other athletes, took a late start to the game after completing his Matric. His father’s colleague, Zahid Maqbool, once saw him playing in an outdoor court with his friend Tahir Javed . He instantly spotted the vision & spark in his eyes, which signalled how inclined & passionate he was regarding Badminton immediately. That moment, Amir's father also realised that he had the potential to climb up the ladder and achieve milestones that lay ahead of him.  Thus, his father allowed his friend, who at that time was a Top National player, to take Amer Islam along with him to train. He started off his professional training at Police Citizen Badminton Hall und

Review of Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed

The Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed is a product of Yonex's latest series, Nanoflare , which was released in the year 2019. A resilient yet flexible graphite material, Toraycar M40 and Super HMG provide matchless power and stability for maximum shuttle acceleration. Its Nanocell Neo frame shape provides you with a greater sweet spot, allowing you to have a better chance of middling the shot. In my opinion, what distinguishes this racket from other models of Yonex is that it comes with various weights and grip sizes (which I already explained in my previous blog), allowing you to have a number of choices according to your game style. Yonex launched Nanoflare 270 speed are manufactured in 4U and 5U , weighing 83g and 78g on average respectively. As you can see it is a light racket, so this may not be suitable for an attacking player, however it might be beneficial for defensive players, or those who like to rely on their flat drives. Furthermore, I would advise you to string yo

Comeback of Nauman Sikander Mir

Nauman Sikander Mir, known as “Nomi” among his friends, was born on 27th july 1977 in Lahore. Nauman belonged to a family who already were national champions (his uncle and his aunt), but little did he know that he'd be known as one of them. He, just like any other child, did not know what badminton was. His uncle, Shakeel Hayat Mir , introduced him to badminton at the age of 11 and trained him under his supervision at LDA Sports Complex Samanabad Lahore in the early days of Nauman. In his early days he would just go to the court with his uncle, watching him and others play. However, as he started to grow up, his uncle focused more on training him. As soon as his uncle was satisfied with his training, he allowed him to participate in national junior (u-12) , where he shocked everyone by winning both boys doubles (with Waqas Ahmed) and boys singles titles. He continued to dominate in juniors at national  level by becoming u-14 and u-18 champion in both categories.

'Fault' and 'Let' calls in Badminton

During a badminton match, an umpire can call out a Fault or Let depending on the situation. In this article we will have a look at some common faults during a badminton match that Badminton World Federation (BWF) has written in their Law book. We will start off with the most common fault we see during a badminton match, i.e Service Fault . During a serve , Neither side should cause an undue delay once both the server and receiver is ready. This might be caused by the server not completing the stroke in 1 go, & delaying the serve after the backward movement of the racket. It may also be caused by the receiver continuously raising his/her hand, indicating that he isn't ready. Both the server and the receiver must make sure that some part of their feet is in contact with the court while the serve is being delivered. During the delivery of the service (in Doubles), the partners may take up any positions they wish within their respective courts, which do not unsi

Racket Weights and Grip Sizes.

Have you ever wondered what “G5” and “4U” represent on your racket? These letters followed by a number are the racket specifications that represent “Circumferential grip size” and “Racket weight” respectively. The following table will give you an idea about the grip sizes that Yonex uses in Badminton rackets. Grip Size Yonex measurement G3 95mm G4 89mm G5 83mm However, other brands may mark them other way round, G5 being the thickest grip. Other brands’ measurements may also differ. To make yourself comfortable in gripping your racket, the grip size should be big enough so that when holding the handle correctly (like shaking someone’s hand), the tip of your ring finger should not be touching your palm. Also, many companies these days are making rackets in a single size, so to adjust the size of the handle you may apply overwraps, like “Victor cushion wrap GR-50”, to the handle. Moreover, the range of racket weights are classified by a number fro
