Talha started badminton at the age of 11 under the supervision of Coach Tayyab Sohail at New Khan Badminton Club. After gaining professional training, the 12 years old participated in Under 14 All Punjab Championship, where he took 3rd position. In the following year (2010), he bagged a silver medal for his school in All Punjab After-School Championship. The very next year he represented his school in the same tournament, but the results were same as in the previous year. However, in 2012, Talha was successful in clinching a gold medal for his school. Moreover, the champion showed consistency in Punjab Youth festival as he remained undefeated for 2 consecutive years: 2012 and 2013. In 2012, he stood on the podium as the winner of Chief Minister Cup.
After passing out Matric in 2014, he took admission in GCU. He became an important member for GCU Badminton Team, who played a major role in lifting the trophy for his college in All Pakistan Inter-board Championship (2015 and 2016). Moreover, he reached the finals of Men's doubles (with Muteeb Sohail) in National Junior Championship (U-19) in 2015. Not only did the duo perform at Junior level, but also showed their capabilities by reaching the no. 6 spot in Men's doubles National ranking. The National Junior no. 2 (2015), upon graduating from GCU got enrolled in UCP. He got selected for UCP Badminton team by Coach Zafar Tasneem. According to Talha, Coach Zafar Tasneem played a major role in polishing his technical skills. He also reached his career's best Men's Singles ranking (26) under his coaching. In 2016, Talha had international exposure. He, along with his teammates, went to Malaysia for 1 month training at Ampang Jaya Badminton Club. After he came back from Malaysia, he signed a 6 months contract with SNGPL. He played a vital role in All Pakistan Inter-University for Team UCP to bag a bronze medal in 2018 and a silver medal in 2019.
However, According to Talha Khalid, he did not see much purpose to work harder in a field with few opportunities and facilities. Although he continues to play badminton, he no longer participates in professional competitive tournaments, but rather only for the maintenance of his health and physique. He is currently working diligently to create a career in software engineering. It is due to the unparalleled support of his parents and brother that he has been able to accomplish such feats in his badminton career.
