Born on 4th March 2005, Umar Jehangir hails from Palosi, Peshawar, and has completed his Matric. In the 12th year, he started playing Badminton in Hujra, under the coaching of Waqas Khalil. Currently, Coach Nadeem Khan has been training him in Peshawar Sports Complex since the past 3 years.
At such a young age, Umar has accomplished wonders and is making the Badminton community proud. His 1st professional tournament was the District Championship 2017 Peshawar, where he was the silver medalist. Currently, he is the Junior National Champion of U-18 Singles and Doubles with his partner, Uzair Khan. The champion was also awarded as Best Player of the year in 2018 and 2019 by Sports Inviters Association, KPK.
Umar also won All Pakistan Interboard Championship held at Sukkur in 2018, also becoming the U-14 National Champion at Lahore. For any player, achievements boost their confidence, as well as enthusiasm to continue and rise above. So did Umar, consecutively winning All Pakistan Interboard Sportsgala Championship held at Islamabad in 2019 and 2020 twice. This was another feather in his cap, as the champion went on to become U-16 National Ranking Champion in 2019 at Abottabad.
Supporters always make your journey worthwhile, and for Umar, there were Anwar ullah Khalil, Shehzad Khan, Sir Umer Zeeshan who also gave him Ashaway Sponsor, Directorate General of KP Sports, and many others. The champion won finals of 3 consecutive National Championships, and was awarded Rs1 lac for each championship, for which he is very grateful.
Currently, Umar is also the Junior Champion in KPK, and winner of U-21 KP Games, held in Peshawar. Umar Jehangir is a rising star, a pride of Pakistan, who aspires to win Gold medal in Olympics one day, representing the Green color.
