Gohar Azam- National Junior (U-19) Champion 2015

Gohar Azam was born on 27th September, 1997 in Sharjah. He has completed his BBA(Hons) from University Of Central Punjab, and has currently enrolled in MBA Programme.

Gohar started playing Badminton from a very young age,i.e, he was only 9 when he joined Pakistan Social Center in Sharjah. Gohar's father, Muhammad Azam- former National champion of U.A.E- used to train him to his full potential and always helped him polish his skills.

His training and coaching, combined with Gohar's consistent efforts and hardwork led the young champion to win his 1st Professional Badminton Tournament, which was the U-10 All UAE Junior Championship, becoming Singles' Junior Champion in 2007.

When he shifted to Pakistan from U.A.E, he trained under different coaches according to his requirements. Other than his father, he trained under Coach Nadeem Javed, Coach Naeem Mughal, Coach Liaqat Ali, Coach Ali Yar Baig, and Coach Waqas Ahmed. A good coach plays a very beneficial role in the life of an athlete, and so did they.

Gohar, throughout his game career uptil now, has been victorious at a number of events. His major Badminton achievements are listed below:

  • U-12 U.A.E National Championship 2008 Winner (Singles)

  • U-15 All Punjab Championship 2013 winner (Singles)

  • All Pakistan Inter Collegiate champion (representing GCU Lahore in 2014-16)

  • All Pakistan U-19 champion 2015 (Doubles with Shehroz Jamil)

  • Silver Medalist (twice) at All Pakistan Inter Universities (representing UCP from 2017-19)

  • Bronze medalist (once) at All Pakistan Inter Universities (representing UCP from 2017-19)

  • All Punjab Champion 2019 (Doubles with Ahmer Jalal)

  • Bronze medalist at All Pakistan Team Event 2019 (representing team HEC in National championships)

Furthermore, Gohar also made his 1st major upset in Seniors at National Champion 2018 in Pakistan, where he won against Ali Nawab Dil (Wapda), who was 24th seed at that time. However, Gohar had to face some downfalls in his career- he had several hamstring, shin, and back spasms in Quaid e Azam Games' trials and other championships. Nevertheless, the champion did not hesitate in working hard to improve his physical fitness accordingly.

Through thick and thin, there were some people who were always there to clap for Gohar Azam. This included his parents, as well as his brother Muhammad Saad. Moreover, his sponsor, YOUTECH, makes sure that he is provided with high quality equipment, which is important for any professional athlete to enhance his performance. Gohar's current ranking is 48 in Men's Singles, however, his highest rank has been 34. In Doubles, his highest ranking has been 11. Gohar's future aims are to play at the top most level in Pakistan, and to represent his country at International platform.

Review of Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed

The Yonex Nanoflare 270 Speed is a product of Yonex's latest series, Nanoflare , which was released in the year 2019. A resilient yet flexible graphite material, Toraycar M40 and Super HMG provide matchless power and stability for maximum shuttle acceleration. Its Nanocell Neo frame shape provides you with a greater sweet spot, allowing you to have a better chance of middling the shot. In my opinion, what distinguishes this racket from other models of Yonex is that it comes with various weights and grip sizes (which I already explained in my previous blog), allowing you to have a number of choices according to your game style. Yonex launched Nanoflare 270 speed are manufactured in 4U and 5U , weighing 83g and 78g on average respectively. As you can see it is a light racket, so this may not be suitable for an attacking player, however it might be beneficial for defensive players, or those who like to rely on their flat drives. Furthermore, I would advise you to string yo...
